Drink me

Drink me

The piece “Drink me” is an oil painting inspired by Alice from Lewis Carroll’s children’s story “Alice in Wonderland”.

This painting shows us the surreal and absurd side of a teenager’s dreams, where Alice appears having a tea in a totally inverted reality. This reveals many of the feelings of adolescence, and the way they see themselves in the world.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Mirror, mirror on the wall

The piece “Mirror, mirror on the wall” is my version of the Evil Queen inspired by the character played by Charlize Theron in the fantasy film “Snow White and the Huntsman”, directed by Rupert Sanders.

Evil queen is one of my favorite villans, especially in the Charlize interpretation. For this reason, I decided to represent her blonde, with light eyes and incorporate some elements of the film, such as the golden crown and a feather coat, whose gradient was inspired by a Zuhair Murad jacket.

This painting shows us The Queen looking at herself in the mirror as the fairest of all, while the crow holds the key that can unleash the Snow White.

Lily

Lily

The piece Lily was inspired by Lilith Sullivan, a demonic girl and main antagonist of the 2009 psychological horror film Case 39.

This painting shows us that sometimes, behind an innocent and beautiful appearance, an evil being is hidden and how easily we can be under delusion, which will affect perilously our lives.

Selene

Selene

The Selene piece was inspirired by Selene, the titan goddess of the moon.

I see Selene over a large lunar eclipse imagining the great power of the moon. The representation of this power arises like a great glowing arc over her head.

Aphrodite

Aphrodite

The Aphrodite piece, included in my Greek Muses series, was inspired by Aphrodite, goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. Over the decades, Aphrodite was one of the most inspiring characters, where artists expressed her throught paintings and sculptures.

My vision of Aphrodite was to represent her as a stylish and sexy contemporary woman, irresistable even to Gods. Most classical artists painted her blond or red haired, I saw Aphrodite as a tanned brunnette rising from the sea over the sunset warm colors. This piece represents to me the woman’s power. The way they can do whatever they want.

Spring’s Mother

Spring’s Mother

The piece Spring’s Mother is an oil painting on canvas 40x50cm included in my Greek Muses series. It was inspired by Persephone, goddess of spring and queen of the underworld according to Greek Mythology.

I chose the spring strand of Persephone for its representation since I painted it during spring, and bees as a symbol for this time of year and as a crucial being for the existence of life on earth. Curiously, Persephone was also associated with death, but we can not forget that death comes from the life and the myth of this Goddess represents this clearely.
